Behind the zines: FML Comics - Natasha Natarajan

Behind the Zines is our weekly series of zine readings by queer zine makers, and our latest episode featuring Natasha Natarajan of FML comics is out today!

FML Comics #4 is the latest in Natasha Natarajan's autobiographical comic series, exploring personal and political issues through humour and honesty. The comic zine explores mental health, living in the countryside, and trying to be environmentally responsible.

Natasha Natarajan is a British-Indian visual artist funding an autobiographical comic strip ‘FML Comics’ and zine habit through Graphic/Web Design, Illustration, Arts Administration, Education and a career that makes no sense on a CV. Natasha holds a BA in Indian History and has worked in the arts in Copenhagen and Scotland. She has recently moved home to London where she is whole-heartedly winging it. Natasha is committed to sharing her most private experiences through zine publishing. She strongly believes that underneath it all, in our deepest thoughts, we’re all very recognisably human. New readings in the Behind the Zines series will be uploaded each week. Each of these zines represents the sometimes secret and always powerful connections which queer zines create. That feeling of being connected to a stranger you’ve never met, a community which feels far away, a place, a song, a feeling, an identity. Each of these zines were selected by queer zine library volunteers and each of us at somepoint have found solace, validation, power, and reassurance from queer zines. These zines have helped us to feel seen, helped us find our way, connected us to each other, and inspired us to make our own zines.
